I was born in Dallas,
Texas, weighing 3lbs & 14ozs. As I began to grow my parents
noticed that I could not crawl, pull up, or walk without assistance, & even that wasn’t easy. By the time I was
16mos. old, my parents took me to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital and there the Dr’s diagnosed me with Cerebral Palsy. They told my parents
that the muscles in my legs were not fully developed. I had 3 operations on my legs in a 15yr. period. I
was 5yrs. old when I took my first step.
I learned to sing at the age of 3. My father played
the guitar and he taught me to sing “Jesus Loves Me.” Dad also taught me to love music. He
would invite his buddies over and they would bring their instruments with them. We would have a jam
session at least once or twice a week. I would always be on the floor, right in the middle of music and singing along
with everyone else.
My mom introduced me to Southern Gospel Music about
15yrs ago when she was watching one of the Gather Homecoming videos. That’s when I realized
that Southern Gospel
or Country Gospel music was what I wanted to sing.
